A Moth for Tim

Last night we had a big visitor to the Chateau d'Theocracy. A moth with a 6" wingspan decided to camp out on our front porch. We got a few photos of the beautiful creature and I was hoping the Backyard Arthropodist could identify it.

Nice one! I believe it is a Black Witch, most likely a female - the size and pattern looks right, and the females have more contrasting colors than the males.

I understand they migrate up into the US from Mexico this time of year, but they are actually tropical moths. I'm unlikely ever to find one of these on my property, although Bug Guide claims that one was once found in *Alaska*!

I found four of these resting on my house just under the roof part. I live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu
