You Know, If They Just Stayed In Their Limos, This Kind Of Thing Would Never Happen

There's never an SEIU thug around when you need one. Why does the congressman have to do his own beatdowns? Don't those votes buy anything any more? Talk about a decay of traditional society ...

Wow! I hadn't seen the footage yet. I'd just heard about it. I'd swear the congressman was drunk.

Well, personally, I'm finding it hard to fault the guy very much. If I were in his position, walking along minding my own business, and some unknown kids started sticking a camera and a microphone in my face demanding that I talk to them, I'd want to know who the hell they were too. And if they gave the kind of smarmy non-answer those kids did in that video, I'd be seriously tempted to do more than squeeze one of their wrists a bit.

Of course, I also have trouble finding fault with Buzz Aldrin's response to some twit calling him a liar and a coward, so what do I know.

I think both sides overreacted in this situation. If those people were really students as they claimed to be, they should have properly identified themselves and asked permission to ask questions ("Congressman we're students from Whatever College and we were wondering if you'd answer some questions for us for a school project.") Calling his office and asking for an appointment would have been even better. Tim has a point. They were rude.

On the other hand, that didn't give the Congressman permission to go all Rambo on them and start grabbing people and twisting arms. I would've refused to answer any questions unless they identified themselves and kept on walking if they didn't. If they kept on pursuing, I would have flagged down the nearest cop (Washington, D. C. or Capitol Police) and had them escorted off the property. The Congressman shouldn't have tried to handle it himself.
