Detached

... from the rest of us. That's all I can think of when I read this.
The Justice Department plans to challenge the new Arizona immigration law on the grounds that it encroaches on the federal government’s responsibilities, according to a U.S. official.

The department expects to file a lawsuit today, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter isn’t yet public. The lawsuit will say that federal law sets U.S. immigration policy and doesn’t permit states to create conflicting statutes, the official said.
It sets them up for a loss in court during which trial there will be endless amounts of press attention given to things like this.

It's enough to make you cling bitterly to guns and religion.

Update: Dean has a much longer and more coherent take on this.

Doesn't this argument setup a counter suit with regard to the Federal Government abdicating their acknowledged responsibility?
