The Lawsuit Against Arizona Explained

It's not a rational act.

First off, it's not a political act as most have suggested. A SurveyUSA poll of San Diegans show that by 62-33, we're against the lawsuit. Broken down into racial segments, San Diego Hispanics are against the lawsuit 46-42. San Diego Democrats are against the lawsuit 50-44. It's a political disaster within the population generally and within Hispanics and Democrats specifically.

Second, there doesn't seem to be a way the Feds can win the lawsuit. There are endless examples of states cooperating with Federal law and states taking actions that force action on the part of the Federal government. For example, what happens if a local beat cop uncovers an international spy ring? He turns them over to the FBI, that's what.

Finally, there's the explanation in what seems to be an unrelated event. Eric Holder's DOJ has forced its lawyers to drop their already-won voter intimidation case against the Philadelphia New Black Panthers. Here's the lovely fellow the Obama Administration refused to put behind bars.

While this fellow may seem like a deranged racist to you or me, for some reason the Obama DOJ decided not to prosecute him and why should they? With some significant moderation in his choice of words, but only a little in his world view, he would fit right in on some college campuses, where many in the Administration have worked much of their lives.

The Arizona lawsuit is an act of political theater born out of college campus radical racialism. It's all cut from the same cloth, woven by Van Jones, Father Pfleger, Reverend Wright, Eric Holder, Barack Obama and all the rest. It's an extension of the radical student protests on a university campus - it's not intended to accomplish anything, it is a temper tantrum. It doesn't make any sense to the rest of us because we have escaped the fantasy world of the university and we no longer attend the teach-ins by the Committee for World Democracy at the Che Cafe.

The lawsuit is what happens when you draft your government out of the ivy-covered halls of Academia.
