Momma's little girl is a readhead. Sometimes. I can't quite make out why it happens from time to time. Usually, Daughter Daisy produces orange blooms just like Mom. Once in a great while, Mom will come out with a reddish bloom, but nothing as committed as this.

Years ago, I read a mystery short-story where the detective finally found the murder weapon because the iron leaching from the corroding pistol changed the color of the flowers growing where it was buried. And, I've seen some references to rhododendrons changing color with changes in soil pH. Is it possible that the red blooms happen only sometimes because the water/soil chemistry changes at times?
Hmm. Daughter Daisy's pot is so small that the only weapon I'd be able to bury in it would be a pair of tweezers. Problematic for TSA, no doubt, but hardly dangerous to anyone else.
